Courses in the major include:

This course prepares students for success in their academic and professional careers. The foundation for learning is established for professional skill development through practical experience with the University's four essential learning outcomes - communication, problem solving, collaboration, and citizenship. Learner strengths are assessed and analytical, relational, and resilience skills are developed.
This course explores professionalism and the role of a profession within the healthcare setting. Principles of ethics, leadership and advancement of professions within healthcare setting will be examined. Prerequisite: HTSU 300
This course explores leadership principles that influence problem-solving and decision-making including professional values and motivation. Emphasis will be placed on leadership styles, followership, and leading teams. Prerequisite: HSTU 304
This course explores trends and issues faced by health professional in the 21st Century. Prerequisite: HSTU 314
This course focuses on analysis, synthesis and application of the medical ethics principles. Emphasis will be placed on the role of the code of ethics as it applies to a variety of healthcare roles. Prerequisite: HSTU 324
This course focuses on health research and application of evidence-based practice within health care. Students will explore types of research, data collection, analysis and implementation into practice. Prerequisite: HSTU 415
This course explores the trends, tools, and technology used in the management and communication of healthcare information Prerequisite: HSTU 425
This course examines healthcare regulation, policy, and law as applied across a variety of healthcare settings. Prerequisite: HSTU 435
This course explores systems thinking and innovation within a health care setting. Emphasis will be placed on complex adaptive system theory, positive deviance and entrepreneurial mindset in healthcare systems. Prerequisite: HSTU 446
This course utilizes previous course work to develop a capstone project on a selected health studies topic. Prerequisite: HSTU 456
